I have allergy induced Excema and have great success in stopping the itch and pain using Cort-Aid hydro-cortisone cream. It burns temporarially if you have open wounds, but if you can get past the short burn, it works miraclesPut vaseline on the affected areas! Also you may want to get a prescription for a topical corticosteroid lotion to use when your eczema is flaring.
Eczema of the scalp is extremely rare. More likely you have seborrheic dermatitis. Try Neutrogena T sal daily for 10 minutes. If that doesn’t help in a few wks, see a dermatologist.

It could if you’re scratching/irritating a lot. Especially so if scratch gets infected!
Things to try at home would be an oatmeal bath, ice on the area to ease pain, ibuprofin to reduce swelling, hydrocortizone cream to help with itching. If it’s really stubborn go to a dermatologist or at least a pcp and get a prescription lotion like desonyde or a steroid cream (steroid will reduce the inflammation and the lotion will soothe it). If it’s on the scalp get a tar shampoo like neutrogena t-gel or it’s generic but there are stronger prescription versions as well such as Loprox.
I’ve found the best way to deal with eczema is to use as little soap/washes as possible and follow up with a non-scented, chemical free moisturizer like petroleum jelly, baby oil or eucerin
