Yes, using something harsh can wash away natural moisture and lubrication. It can also cause irritation. Stick with vinegar and water only and you’ll be ok. I’m an OBGYN and I see this daily.
There are special products available for just this problem, ask your pharmacist/chemist. Also any “normal” lubricant will do.
